Upper Echelon Software ("we", "our", "us") operates the Pantree mobile application ("App"). This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and protect your information when you use our App.

1. Information We Collect

Information you provide:

Your name, as entered during onboarding
Cooking preferences: dietary restrictions, allergies, skill level, household size, cuisine interests, and time budget
Recipes you create, import, or generate
Pantry items and grocery lists you manage

Information collected automatically:

Subscription status (managed by Apple and RevenueCat)
Basic app usage data for functionality (cooking streaks, achievement progress)

Information we do NOT collect:

We do not collect your location
We do not collect your contacts
We do not collect device identifiers for advertising
We do not sell any personal data to third parties

2. How We Use Your Information

To display your name in personalized greetings
To tailor AI recipe suggestions based on your dietary preferences, allergies, and cuisine interests
To match recipe ingredients against your pantry for shopping recommendations
To manage your subscription

3. Data Storage

All your recipes, pantry items, grocery lists, preferences, and cooking data are stored locally on your device using Apple's SwiftData framework. We do not upload your personal recipe collection or pantry data to any server.

When you use the AI Chef feature or import a recipe, your cuisine/preference selections and the recipe URL are sent to our processing servers and to OpenAI's API. These requests are processed in real time and are not stored after the request completes.

4. Third-Party Services

We use the following third-party services:

OpenAI — Powers the AI Chef recipe generator and recipe extraction. We send cuisine preferences and recipe text (not personal data) to OpenAI's API. See OpenAI's Privacy Policy.
RevenueCat — Manages subscription billing and entitlement verification. See RevenueCat's Privacy Policy.
Apple App Store — Handles all payment processing. We never see or store your payment information.

5. Data Retention

Your data is stored locally on your device for as long as you have the App installed. Uninstalling the App permanently deletes all locally stored data including recipes, pantry items, grocery lists, and preferences.

We do not retain any data on our servers from AI processing requests.

6. Your Rights

Access & deletion: All your data is on your device. You can view it in the App at any time. Uninstalling deletes everything.
Subscription management: Manage or cancel your subscription via Settings → Apple ID → Subscriptions on your iOS device.
Data portability: You can share individual recipes as images from within the App.

7. Children's Privacy

Pantree is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If we become aware that we have collected personal information from a child under 13, we will take steps to delete such information.

8. Security

We take reasonable measures to protect your information. All API communications use HTTPS encryption. Subscription verification is handled through Apple's secure infrastructure. Local data is protected by your device's built-in security features (passcode, Face ID, Touch ID).

9. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of significant changes by posting the new policy in the App or on this page. Your continued use of the App after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
